Coconut Rice Chronicle

Usually, I don't really care what I eat for breakfast, and oftentimes I skip breakfast altogether. It's nice when I can have one, but it's not really necessary for me. Then, one day I found a coconut rice joint near my house.

I had a taste of it, and it felt good. I started to have it for breakfast increasingly often, until the point where I used to eat it every day. Somehow I never feel bored with it; it just keeps getting better and better each day. I can't really explain why, as I'm sure there are more delicious kinds of breakfast out there. However, the coconut rice is simply the one I like the most, the only one that could made me wake up really early and go outside just to make sure I get to it before it runs out of stock.

Then, the joint closed. Not all of sudden; it started to close a few times, then increasingly often, and finally it closed permanently. I can't have the coconut rice for breakfast anymore.

A year passed, and I never tasted the rice anymore. I tried some other alternatives for breakfast, but nothing sticks. In the end, I returned into not caring about breakfast again, perhaps even worse than before because now I knew what a perfect breakfast felt like to me; and now that I can't have it anymore, everything else feels inferior in comparison. I can't have anything else until at least I forgot the taste of that coconut rice. But, deep down I know I don't want to forget.

One day, I went back into that place again, and surprised to find out that it is open. "Just for one day, but who knows, maybe you can go back sometime and you'll find us open again," said the owner. I eat the coconut rice again after so long.

It was a beautiful day, and I still love the coconut rice. More than ever.
